Meat birds getting bigger by the day. Freezer time next week.
Hard to tell by these two pics, but the new layers are growing too. There is one who runs over to have me pet her when I put my hand in there. Oh-oh, Lucy's gonna be jealous.
So, we went to the farmer's market in Mora Saturday and bought some eggs from the Amish guy, because we haven't been getting many eggs. (Yes, we ate two right away).
Well, someone must have told the girls, because suddenly we're getting three eggs a day. Job security I guess.
The Amish chickens must not be free-range, because the yolks are yellow like store eggs instead of orange like ours.They taste okay though. Store eggs don't seem to have anywhere near the flavor of ours.
What a cute puppy. Right? Hasta la vista.
