Yesterday we got the first egg from the young chickens. These hens are the ones we hatched out ourselves. Three of the hens are crosses between Marans and Wellsummers.
The egg on the left is a Maran and the one on the right is a Wellsummer.
This is the new one. We think it's from one of the cross hens, because it shows color characteristics from both.At first I thought it was too big to be a pullet egg, but Gramma reminded me that many of our other first eggs were double yolkers. As usual she was right.
Here it is next to a regular egg. Cute little yolks, huh? Tasted good too. This is fun for us. We are happy.
