TGSA Tercera Parte

While I was down "South" Jon turned six years old.
He got to pick out his cake and picked a Batman cake. That's Batman exploding from the Bat Cave on the Bat Cycle.

He got some pretty cool stuff from everyone.

I think his favorite gift was a wallet and some money to put in it. He also said he wanted to get a job so he could make money to put in his wallet and then he could buy cool stuff. Before I forget I want to thank all the "Swamp People" for putting up with me, feeding me and helping me. I especially want to thank James for all his construction help and the girls for letting me use their room as my own and having to share their brother's room. It was crowded in there. Thank you girls. Stay here, not done yet, more to come.

The Great Swamp Adventure "Par Deux" "The Swamp People"

While I was there the family got cable tv for awhile. Eating supper in front of the tv became a regular thing. Many pizzas were consumed.
 Mommy and Matthew eating...............Pizza.
Andrew and Peter waiting for pie and licking the lid of the pie I bought. French Silk, yum.
 Peter's breakfast face.
 A boy and his Grampa.
Here's the girls waiting to go to church.
 What a cutie.
Oh oh, tv and pizza again.
And here's the whole gang. I think they need a bigger couch. Don't go away, more to come.

Escape from "The Swamp"

Yesterday in the wee hours of the morning, with the help of an insider, I made my escape. I managed to bring out some pics of the work I was forced to do, so here they are.

Ready for insulation and sheet rock.
 The outside ready for siding.
 Siding on and partially painted.

 Mommy painting.

Rocked and taped and ready for paint.

 Painted.

Carpet in and trimmed. A two week job turned into a month. Partially due to the incompetence and what I would term bizarreness of the city inspection department, partially due to the slowness of the electrician that was hired, partially due to some problems we found when I took out the garage door and partially due to the age and infirmness of the old guy doing the work. We could not get a framing inspection until we had an electrical inspection. SAY WHAT!? That's right. And if anyone can tell me the logic behind that one, the drinks are on me. Suppose your framing isn't right and you have do something over? You call the electrician and pay him to undo his stuff, so you can fix your stuff and then have him redo his stuff and pay him for that. And then do need another electrical inspection? Totally insane. Anyway they are still waiting for the final two inspections, so who knows how long that will take as the electrician never called for one. The good news is James has his own room and I think he's pretty happy. Stay tuned, more to come, but right now I need a nap.

Cows

The FD came over the other day cause she thought some of the cows looked too skinny and maybe needed to be wormed. so I took some pics of cow butts for before and after shots. They have been here for four days and have put on weight. I'm not sure you can tell in these pics, but you can really tell when you look at them in person.

Sunny before.
Sunny after.
Honey before.
                                                                    Honey after.

As I look at these pics I can tell that they don't show the difference, so you'll just have to trust us that it's so. We don't think they were on good pasture and we don't think they had adequate water. When they got here they literally attacked the mineral block, so they obviously didn't have access to salt and minerals either. I think they will do better here on our pasture and they are already starting to look better. On another note, I leave tomorrow afternoon to begin "The Great Swamp Adventure." Hooowheee, she gonna be mighty hot down there y'all. I be sweatin' and smelly, hoo doggies. You'll have to check the Bayou Mommy's blog for updates and I'll write a full report if I ever get back home. Those of who are up this way, check on Gramma for me OK? Love ya all, see ya when I get back.

Giant Egg II

Here it is again in Gramma's hand
Here it is in the pan.
Here it is with another egg.
And here it is on my plate. There is a piece of toast under there somewhere. It was delicious. I can only hope that it didn't hurt the hen too much. We don't know who laid it, but Simone looks a little stressed out.

Farm stuff

Just some stuff that I find interesting.
Here's an agate that looks like a flower.
I hadn't even noticed it until Ted brought the kids up the other day and I had them pick out some rocks to take home and I saw this one. Very pretty and unusual.
You may remember my blog about the giant egg. Well this one is bigger.
Store egg, our normal egg, the giant.
Gramma's hand.
The "Baby Huey" of eggs.
Here's one of our fawns. I know you can't see it too well, but she's there. We have been having a lot of fun watching them this year. This one came within 20 feet of the house today. They run and jump and run some more with total abandon as all kids should and it makes your heart glad to watch them. Life is good.
